Regarding the 5cm Flak 41:
Despite its low production numbers and the scarcity of actual photos, I get the impression that there are quite a few subtle variations in its details.
I’ve decided to recreate the recoil guard seen at the rear end of the recoil/recuperator rails. To be honest, I’m rebuilding it because I accidentally broke the original while storing the model after painting... I recall first learning the Japanese term "Bokiban" (防危板) from an old Tamiya kit manual, but in English, I suppose it’s called a "recoil guard."
I’ve noticed that this guard is present on some units but missing on others. Looking at the kits currently on the market (such as Schatton or Trumpeter), it seems to be omitted entirely. Considering how much research must go into kitting such a rare gun (Schatton aside), there’s no way the designers missed a detail that even an amateur like me noticed. I wonder if they just prioritized ease of assembly.
That said, since the Schatton kit is an expensive resin model, I’d think they should at least include a part like the recoil guard as a photo-etched parts. Then again, considering they are a manufacturer for illegally copying Dragon's OVM parts, I suppose I shouldn't expect much in the way of detail quality...

5cm・FLAK41機関砲ですが、実物写真や生産数が少ない割に、細かい部分での差異が散見される気がします。
今回、駐退復座機レール後端に見られる防危板を追加で再現してみます。
というか、塗装後の保管中に誤って破損させてしまったので、作り直しです・・
防危板という言葉はタミヤの古いキットの取説で知った覚えがありますが、英語だと「recoil guard」とでも呼ぶのでしょうか・・
防危板は、付属している個体と、省略されている個体が見られます。
市販のキット（シャットン社製、トランペッター社製）に限ってみると、省略されています。
これだけ資料の少ない機関砲をキット化するに当たり、それなりに実物をリサーチしたはずです（シャットン社を除く）。
なので、素人のワシでも気付くことを、メーカーの設計担当者が気付かない理由がないので、作りやすさを重視した結果なのでしょうか・・
ただ、シャットン社の製品は高価なレジンキットな訳ですから、製品化に当たり、防危板程度のパーツはエッチングで再現しておくべきだと思います。
もっとも、ドラゴン社製のOVMパーツを違法コピーするようなメーカーですから、ディテールのクオリティを期待してはいけないのでしょうが・・
